I could not wait to meet the R family. Mom contacted me last winter about this session and it was worth the wait. The R family welcomed baby C into their family two weeks early! Little Miss A is not so little anymore! I remember her newborn session and how strong she was. She tried to push herself off my boppy! What a joy it was to finally see her for her one year session (we had to delay a couple of times due to illness and scheduling). Miss A was just so fun and easygoing. Finally! We’re back online after nearly a week! I know this family is anxious to see their sneak peek. I met this adorable little girl last July and I cannot believe how much she has grown! I just love the little outfits Mom picked out for this session. We had to brave the heat and humidity, but I think we got some beautiful captures.

I was privileged to see the M family again to photograph the newest addition to their family. Little Miss B was such a good baby and was already giving her Mom and Dad some much needed rest time. I cannot believe that little Miss S just celebrated her first birthday. It just seems like yesterday that I did her newborn session. We went to downtown Grapevine and enjoyed looking at the trains and the gardens. It was a little windy and cool for our session, but I think she enjoyed being outside. What a beautiful young lady!

At the end of last month I was so honored and excited to attend the Savvy Photographer Workshop on the Waterfront. This was an amazing experience for me. We traveled to St. Michael’s, Maryland and stayed at The Inn at Perry Cabin. Does this look familiar? You may have seen it in the movie, “Wedding Crashers.”
The grounds of the Inn were perfect for a photographer.

This was an amazing experience, not only for the beautiful scenery, but also for the chance to network with leaders in the portrait photography industry and also other small businesswomen such as myself. We were taught by the likes of Jodie Otte, Marta Locklear, Mika Beth Edwards, and Melanie Mauer, among others.
The last day in St. Michael’s, we spent shooting around the Inn and the historic town. Here are some of the images I captured that day.
And on our way back to Baltimore to hop on our flight back home, my husband and I spotted this wonderful old barn. I’m a sucker for old barns, so I jumped out of the car on the interstate to capture this:

Ice and snow couldn’t keep us from doing this session with adorable Miss H. Isn’t she darling? She was all smiles for our session. I don’t think she cried even once. I just love those cheeks and her two little teeth that have just poked through! Mom and I were excited to get so many pictures with her eyes open this time. Was anyone else disappointed that the groundhog saw his shadow this morning? I know, I know…it’s just a legend and doesn’t really mean anything, but the thought of six more weeks of winter is driving me crazy. Especially this winter. We had snow on Christmas and nearly subzero days for a couple of days. When has that happened here before? My husband laughs at me all the time because I tell him that February is the longest month of the year. Yes, I understand that technically it is the shortest month, but man does it drag on and on. It’s dreary. My kids can’t go outside. We start driving each other bonkers.
Well to help pull us out of this funk I thought I would show you what I’ve been up to on my 52 week challenge. Perhaps it will give us some hope that Spring will be on it’s way soon.

Hi everyone! Lots of changes are coming to Sharon Gartrell Photography in the coming months. First off, I am pleased to debut my new logo. I worked with the very talented Tiffany Willette from On the Spot Studio.
In the coming weeks I’ll be updating my website, blog and client information pieces to reflect my new branding. I will warn you that coding is not my forte, so please bear with me if you happen to visit and things look awry. Rest assured things will get back to normal soon.

The R family is always so much fun to have over to the studio. Baby N just celebrated her first birthday! I can’t believe how big she has gotten since our last session here. She can stand now and she just loves to try and walk everywhere. She got a hold of my hand at one point and just started walking! I loved hearing all the words she can say and all the expressions she makes. She was moving around so much, we had to put her in a chair to try and catch a moment when she was still.
