Wow! I can’t believe it’s time for another fine art Friday. Autumn has arrived in North Texas although you wouldn’t know it by the ninety degree temperatures we’ve been experiencing. Nothing says autumn to me like acorns! I know most people would think of beautiful fall foliage, but we don’t have that here. So when all the acorns start falling and the squirrels are scurrying around, we know that the furnace of summer is almost over.

Here’s another installment of Fine Art Friday! Here’s a scenic of the Maha’ulepu Coast in Kaua’i. This was shot just minutes before sunrise. This coast is the longest stretch of accessible coastline that has not been developed. I hope that it can remain that way. It was so peaceful coming out here every morning. I wanted to capture the beautiful colors and the sense of peace this place gave me.

Sweet Mr. E came to see me a couple of weeks ago. He really made us work for it! At one point, Mom and Dad took him for a car ride to get him to sleep. He was too interested in everything going on around him to sleep, but we still got some adorable shots of him. Hopefully, he crashed when he got home and gave his parents some time for much needed rest. Check out the personality you can see already:

So little Miss E came to see me back in April. I’m so glad that her Mom decided to bring her in even though she was older than the typical newborn session age. She was four weeks old at the time of our session and such a little joy to work with! I love working with older newborns because we can get some good eye contact at this age! Check out this little beauty:

I met Kristin in Grapevine to do her senior pictures last May. We actually had to reschedule several times while trying to dodge all the thunderstorms we were having back then. Oh how I’m missing all that rain right now! Kristin was my first senior to photograph and I must say I had so much fun with her session! Of course, her Mom and I were joking that seniors didn’t look like this back when we were seniors . She is such a beauty, but she is also poised and put together. She will go far, of that there is no question.

Little Miss T came to visit me back in May for a three month session. She was cracking me up the entire time. She had just discovered that she could stick her tongue out…and she kept doing it and doing it! We were able to capture some beautiful expressions (sans tongue), and I was really surprised at how strong she is and how well she could push herself up. She was such a hoot and I was so happy with the images that I captured for this family.

I’m so far behind in blogging it is not even funny. This little beauty visited me in May. She was the perfect Mother’s Day gift for her Mom as she arrived on Mother’s Day!

She was such a doll for our session. Once we got her to sleep, she loved being put into all kinds of baskets and even a tutu or two! I just love those little squished lips, but I really love that pretty little grin she gave us while all wrapped up.

I can’t wait to see her in a few months for her six month milestone session!

Life’s a Beach ~Keller Child Photographer~ Sharon Gartrell

Summer is winding down here and we are about to head back to school. I’m so glad that my family and I decided to make time to head back down to the beach for one last time. We had a glorious time on South Padre Island! There is nothing like watching your kids experience the wonder of the ocean. I took too many snapshots to count, but I also took a small amount of time to do a quick session with my girls. I love these types of sessions because it’s more like playing than working and I don’t have to coax any smiles out of them. I also just love the light at the beach. It is so amazingly beautiful and I absolutely love playing with the light while I shoot. Here are just a few of the many shots we got this past week. The images at the beginning of the slideshow are from South Padre Island, the ones at the end with the brown seaweed strewn about the beach were taken earlier this summer when I took the kids to Galveston Island. We arrived at the beach a few minutes after sunrise and I wanted to capture their first reactions to the ocean. Again the light was just beautiful and the clouds were amazing on this day. The wind was about 30 mph unfortunately and about 30 minutes into our visit it began to rain, but it cleared off quickly and we were able to play!
Hmmm, looking at these makes me wish we were back at the beach!
