My goal as a photographer is to capture the true spirit and personality of the person that I am photographing. As such, I do not try to force smiles or put children in unnatural poses. I shoot a modern, natural portrait which conveys a child’s honest reactions. This may not be for everyone. My interest in photography was sparked by a photography class I took prior to leaving for my honeymoon in New Zealand. Once my two wonderful daughters arrived, I was hooked. Like many parents, I wanted to capture those beautiful, yet fleeting moments in my children’s lives. They are growing up and changing so fast, and I want to remember who they were as little ones…the smiles and the tears…all the things that make them special.

Besides being a Mom, I was also a preschool and elementary school teacher for over a decade. This extensive experience has given me great knowledge of children’s development. With this experience, I can relate to children at their level of development and elicit an honest reaction. Having worked with children my entire adult life, I also have a great deal of patience, which is a must when photographing children.

I studied history at The University of Texas at Austin. I earned my teaching credentials from The University of St. Thomas. I also studied graphic design at the Art Institute.
